Doheny and UCLA Stein Eye: Partners for Healthy Vision
Doheny and UCLA Stein Eye Institutes entered a ninety-nine year partnership agreement in 2013. Most research grant funding for Doheny-UCLA faculty goes through Doheny, which, as an independent organization dedicated solely to vision science and ophthalmology, can be more nimble and responsive when opportunities arise. UCLA Stein Eye, part of the David Geffen School of Medicine, is able to access certain grants and resources available only to universities. UCLA manages clinics for Doheny-affiliated physicians and Doheny provides laboratories and equipment for a quarter of the basic science faculty. Between the two institutes are 58 clinical faculty and 23 research faculty.
The Doheny-UCLA Stein Eye Institutes partnership secures the future of state-of-the-art ophthalmic care, research, and teaching. This alliance helps meet the growing need for services and research as the US and worldwide population reaches a vulnerable age where vision disorders are more prevalent. Both, Doheny and UCLA Stein maintain a strong focus on discovering new cures and treatments for everyone afflicted with eye disease.
