LEITR specializes in providing human ocular tissues with rapid death-to-preservation times, recovering 390 donors in 2022 in under 6 hours (average 4h40m). Typical criteria include:
- Age, race and gender
- Inclusion/exclusion of other medical criteria
- Control tissues and tissues with Glaucoma, Age-Related Macular Degeneration, or Diabetic Retinopathy
Our tissue services include:
- dissection of whole globe or preservation by fixation, freezing, or RNAlater.
- pathologically grading of diseased tissue
- donor ophthalmology records
Custom on-site services include:
- Culture of primary ocular cells: trabecular meshwork, retinal pigment epithelial cells, corneal endothelial cells, lamina cribrosa cells, Tenon’s or posterior fibroblasts
- a 28-day Neural Retina Explant Culture Model for gene therapy/ganglion cell survival studies
- Anterior Perfusion Organ culture model for aqueous outflow system studies
- Hstological processing of recovered tissues.
- Biobank of pre-dissected graded tissues
- Histological slides of normal and diseased donors
