The Charlotte Pipe and Foundry tour is an interactive, walking tour of the manufacturing process for cast iron pipe and fittings. This unique opportunity will allow participants to observe the steps necessary to produce cast iron pipe and fittings, along with the associates that make it possible. Participants will observe a number of production areas, including scrap iron melting operations in a cupola and 60–80 ton holding furnaces, various machinery (DISA machines, Four and Multi-Flask, Shell Core, etc.), procedures used when producing products, and more.
Participants will also receive an overview of Charlotte Pipe’s quality control and testing procedures and see firsthand how these comply with industry standards such as CISPI standards and the NSF Certification Program.
Participants are required to wear closed-toe shoes and pants. Cameras, photography, recording devices, open-toed shoes, and shorts are not allowed.
