The Second Air Force serves as the “Gateway” to the operational Air Force/Space Force for 32,000-35,000 total force airmen/guardians each year.  From basic training to initial skills the Second Air Force will train 93% of new accessions annually spanning 265 distinct career fields and specialties.  Their training network is comprised of 5 training wings operating more than 80 detachments across the country and abroad.  The current priority of the Second Air Force is to transform technical training and the way our airmen learn as we transition to robust competency-based model that embraces modern modalities and is focused on preparing airmen to operate as a Multi Capable Airmen ready to support future operations.
