    SMS Precision Machine GmbH, a leading German manufacturer of advanced grinding technology, has expanded its proven Heligrind SH series with the compact SH60, designed specifically for machining smaller workpieces. First introduced at EMO 2023 in Hannover, the SH60 is now also available in the United States, Canada, and Mexico exclusively through Rey Technologies, Inc.

    The Heligrind SH series provides manufacturers with a universal solution for profile and thread grinding applications. Its modular design allows for versatile configurations and ensures ultra-precise and highly productive machining. Depending on equipment, the SH machines are ideally suited for worms, screw spindles, extruder screws, thread rolling dies, gauges, taps, ball screws, gear-cutting tools, rotors, racks, and special gears.

    The series is powered by SMS’s intuitive Helitouch Control Software, enabling fast programming and minimal setup times. Networking between systems allows for easy exchange of programs and settings, while dedicated profile software ensures accurate grinding of virtually all profile shapes.

    In addition to single-process applications, the SH series supports combination machining — such as inside and outside grinding of ball screws, or worm and spline processing — along with options for in-process measurement and complete automation solutions.

  • The SMS Heligrind SH series is a universal profile grinding solution engineered for maximum flexibility and precision. Built with a compact travelling-column design, the SH offers grinding lengths up to three meters and is ideal for a wide range of applications including worms, screw spindles, extruder screws, thread rolling dies, gauges, taps, ball screw spindles, gear hobs, shaper cutters, nuts, rotors, and special gears.

    The Heligrind SH's vibration-damping bed, high static and dynamic rigidity, and direct digital drives ensure stable and accurate machining.   • The GI-50 from SMS Precision Machine GmbH is a next-generation internal thread grinding machine developed to meet the demands of ball screw and precision component manufacturers. Designed for nuts and similar workpieces, it combines ultra-precise internal thread grinding with optional external circular and surface grinding in one clamping. A typical setup includes an HF internal spindle for finishing threads and an external spindle for shoulders and nut diameters, ensuring maximum accuracy and productivity.

    Dressing options include plunge dressing with profile rollers or CNC path-controlled diamond form rollers. Equipped with Siemens ONE CNC, SMS’s intuitive HMI, digital servo drives, and Heidenhain measuring systems, the GI-50 offers short setup times and operator-friendly programming. Options include FANUC robotic loading, non-round grinding, dual HF spindles for roughing and finishing, and coolant-through spindle supply. With its mineral cast bed, vibration-damping design, and CBN or conventional wheel capability, the GI-50 is the benchmark solution for cost-efficient, high-accuracy ball screw nut production.
